Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Deaf Communication Support Worker to provide sign language interpretation support in a high school setting, ensuring equal access to education and services for children, young people, and their families.

The successful candidate will work under the line manager of the Deaf Support Service within the Supporting Learners Service, providing expert communication support and guidance to staff.

An attractive salary of £35,000 - £42,000 per annum is on offer for this challenging yet rewarding role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation support
  • Offer advice and training to staff on deaf awareness and communication best practices
  • Collaborate with the Deaf Support Service team to deliver exceptional customer service
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) at SCQF Level 10 or equivalent
  • Effective communication skills, particularly in interpreting spoken and written English into BSL and vice versa
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and as part of a team
