We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Academics Ltd. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with our Therapy Department, supporting children with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and associated challenging behaviours.

The School:

This school caters for children aged 3-19 with Learning Difficulties, who may also have additional sensory impairments, physical difficulties, or challenging behaviour.

Our Therapy Department is staffed by qualified Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Physiotherapists, who work closely with teaching staff and parents to deliver a 'blended' model of therapeutic intervention.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skillset, and gain relevant practical experience, which is invaluable for your future career as an Educational Therapist.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support children with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and associated challenging behaviours
  2. Work closely with the Therapy Department to deliver a 'blended' model of therapeutic intervention
  3. Develop and implement learning activities to suit pupil ability with support from a teacher
  4. Encourage the development of social skills and support students' individual needs
  5. Provide academic and pastoral support to students

Requirements:

  1. Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students
  2. Able to plan learning activities to suit pupil ability with support from a teacher
  3. Able to encourage the development of social skills and support students' individual needs
  4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  5. Able to provide academic and pastoral support

Personal Qualities:

  2. Able to build confidence and motivation
  3. Ability to build robust and effective relationships with students
  4. Ability to remain calm and resilient when placed in situations of stress or conflict
  5. Caring, compassionate, and a good listener

Salary: £80-£100 per day, dependant on skills and experience. Excellent on-site training, support, and CPD is provided to ensure safeguarding of students. Candidates registering with Academics Ltd will need to have or apply for an Enhanced DBS and/or overseas police check where appropriate.
