About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Prison Officer - Custodial Care Specialist. As a key member of our prison staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of prisoners, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise prisoners in all aspects of prison wing activity, promoting a safe and secure environment.
  • Oversee work and education programs, encouraging prisoners to participate and engage in positive activities.
  • Operational matters such as prisoner headcounts, prison cell searching, security, and administrative processes.
  • Manage prisoners who are at risk of self-harm, providing support and guidance.

Requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a focus on public safety and community support.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with prisoners, staff, and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on achieving shared goals and objectives.
  • Basic Maths and English skills, with the ability to complete assessments and training programs.
Selection Process

The selection process will consist of an online assessment, a virtual competency-based interview, and a 10-week Initial Training Course (ITC) at the prison. The ITC will provide high-quality training, including a Diploma in Custodial Care, First Aid, and Control and Restraint training.
