Lead Therapist in Elderly Medicine

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Lead Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to join our team at Northampton General Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to take on a leadership role in our Elderly Medicine Therapy Service.

About the Role

This 12-month fixed-term position offers the successful candidate the chance to develop their skills and experience as a senior clinical and professional leader, working closely with the therapy team and other stakeholders to provide high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in treating patients with complex needs, including those with Parkinson's disease, falls, and cognitive impairments. They will also be able to bring new ideas to develop the service further, both for staff and patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide senior clinical and professional leadership to the therapy team
  • Manage a clinical caseload, prioritizing work and making decisions to ensure effective patient care
  • Work flexibly to provide cover to other clinical areas, including weekends and bank holidays
  • Participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy services within the trust
  • Lead on the annual appraisal of allocated staff and assist in the continual learning of all staff
  • Be responsible for the identification and management of clinical performance issues within therapy staff
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • BSc Honours (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy
  • Health and Care Professions Council Registration
  • UK Work Permit (if applicable)
  • Experience of working in the NHS, preferably in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Clinical experience of working across a broad range of specialities, including acute medicine, healthcare of the elderly/frailty, respiratory, and orthopaedics

Competitive salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience
