Job Description

Carmel College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Assistant to join our team. As a Learning Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic success of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teaching staff in educational activities, both on and off campus.
  • Support the development of the curriculum for students with special educational needs.
  • Supervise groups of students to aid cognitive development.
  • Assist in teaching Foundation Learning skills.
  • Share responsibility with teaching staff in supervising groups of students on visits.
  • Be responsible for small groups of students in learning situations outside the college environment.
  • Supervise students in practical areas, including recreation areas and outdoor facilities.
  • Assist teaching staff in devising learning programmes and with the observation of students and record keeping.
  • Undertake general supervision of students at lunchtime and break times.
  • Personal care may be required as part of the role.
  • Undertake ongoing training and development as required.
  • Observe and implement the College's Equality & Diversity policy.
  • Assist in the escort of students, during college hours if required, into and out of college at arrival and departure times of the special minibus.
  • Attend meetings and complete mandatory training in accordance with the college's meeting/training schedule.
  • Assist at the college's Open Evenings / Consultation Evenings.
  • Each member of the College will take reasonable care for the health and safety of himself/herself and persons who may be affected by his/her omissions at work.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be assigned commensurate with the grade and overall responsibility level of the post and as changing circumstances may require.
Salary Information

Point 6-8 - £23,162 to £24,010 per annum (actual payable £14,894.95 to £15,440.28 per annum depending on experience)

Salary is based on 28.8 hours per week over 4 days, term time only. This post is temporary for one academic year in the first instance.
