Job Description

Carmel College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Assistant to join our team. As a Learning Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching staff in a range of educational activities, both on and off the College premises.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teaching staff in developing the curriculum for students with special educational needs.
  • Supervise groups of students to aid cognitive development and support their learning.
  • Assist in the teaching of Foundation Learning skills and support students in practical areas.
  • Share responsibility with teaching staff in supervising groups of students on visits and in learning situations outside the College environment.
  • Supervise students in recreation areas and outdoor facilities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Assist teaching staff in devising learning programmes and observing students, with a focus on recording and reporting progress.
  • Undertake general supervision of students at lunchtime and break times, promoting a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Provide personal care to students as required, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
  • Participate in on-going training and development to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the College's Equality & Diversity policy, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
  • Assist in the escort of students during college hours, ensuring their safe arrival and departure.
  • Attend meetings and complete mandatory training as required, demonstrating a commitment to your professional development.
  • Support the College's Open Evenings and Consultation Evenings, promoting the College's values and mission.
Salary Information

Point 6-8: £23,162 to £24,010 per annum (actual payable £14,894.95 to £15,440.28 per annum depending on experience)

Salary is based on 28.8 hours per week over 4 days, term time only. This post is temporary for one academic year in the first instance.
