About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Childcare Solicitor to join our team at Law Absolute Limited. As a Childcare Solicitor, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and representation in childcare matters, including public law care proceedings, adoption, and child protection and fostering.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in family law, with experience in childcare cases. You will be able to work independently, managing your own caseload, and provide high-quality advice and representation to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and representation in childcare matters, including public law care proceedings, adoption, and child protection and fostering
  • Manage your own caseload of matters in proceedings, pre-proceeding, and complex matters with minimal supervision
  • Undertake advocacy on behalf of the Council, in the relevant courts and tribunals, and inquiries as may be required
  • Draft all legal documents as required in the preparation of Court proceedings
  • Manage the relationship with external legal advisors appointed in connection with provision of legal advice related to the council
  • Support junior legal colleagues in their work and role model the quality of legal work required

About You:

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious individual who is passionate about family law and childcare cases. You will have a strong academic background, with a degree in law, and be an admitted Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX of England and Wales with a current practising certificate.

You will be a team player, driven by delivering a high-quality service, and have a positive attitude towards building relationships with social workers and your wider team. The ability to work under pressure, be self-motivated, and able to work to deadlines is essential.

Previous childcare local authority experience is desirable, but not essential. You will also need to be comfortable undertaking some advocacy.
