We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be based at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport and will be responsible for providing high-quality mental health care for adults with severe and enduring mental health problems.

The post holder will work closely with other teams and Consultants to ensure coherent and high-quality mental health care for adults with severe and enduring mental health problems within the Stockport area. They will also be responsible for supporting the development of the service and attending local and divisional service development meetings.

The ideal candidate will have a medical degree, higher psychiatric training, and Section Approval under the Mental Health Act 1983. They will also have evidence of teaching and training abilities, be available to participate in an on-call rota, and have experience of writing reports for the Mental Health Review Tribunals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality mental health care for adults with severe and enduring mental health problems
  • Work closely with other teams and Consultants to ensure coherent and high-quality mental health care
  • Support the development of the service and attend local and divisional service development meetings

Person Specification:

  • Possession of a medical degree
  • Higher psychiatric training or its equivalent
  • Section Approval under Mental Health Act 1983 or be eligible for approval

Desirable:

  • Other postgraduate degrees
  • Possession of CCT in general adult psychiatry or be within 6 months of achieving this or on the Specialist Register with the GMC for general adult psychiatry
