Main Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality mental health care for adults with severe and enduring mental health problems.

The post holder will work closely with other teams and Consultants to ensure coherent and high-quality mental health care for adults with severe and enduring mental health problems within the Stockport area.

The ideal candidate will have experience in detention of patients under the Mental Health Act (1983) and be able to participate in on-call rota.

Person Specification
  • Full registration with the GMC with a license to practice
  • Entry into Specialist Register
  • Higher psychiatric training or its equivalent
  • Section Approval under Mental Health Act 1983 or be eligible for approval
  • Possession of MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
  • Possession of CCT in general adult psychiatry or be within 6 months of achieving this or on the Specialist Register with the GMC for general adult psychiatry
Skills and Experience
  • Evidence of teaching and training abilities
  • Available to participate in on-call rota
  • Experience in detention of patients under the MHA (1983)
  • Experience of writing reports for the Mental Health Review Tribunals
