As a top-tier firm in physical commodities, they represent a diverse range of major industry players, including traders, charterers, operators, insurers, financing institutions, and trade associations.

About the Team

The team excels in both contentious and non-contentious matters arising from the international sale, purchase, financing, storage, and transportation of commodities, covering soft and hard commodities as well as all aspects of energy. Currently, the London team consists of one Partner and a Senior Associate, both possessing strong knowledge of commodities and STF matters, supported by Lawyers from the general business group.

About You

  • You would ideally be at a Junior Partner level, although we are open to considering applicants who can bring substantial work, including legal directors, of counsels, or consultants.
  • You have experience in general banking within a reputable law firm, particularly in trade finance and ABL.
  • You have expertise in drafting and negotiating bilateral and syndicated facilities.
  • You have experience in managing documentary credits, standby credits, and guarantees.
  • You have facilitated tri-partite agreements between traders, brokers/members, and financing banks.
  • You have provided counsel on various trade finance transactions, including pre-export finance, prepayment finance, stock/inventory finance, repo financing structures, borrowing base finance, receivables finance, payables financing, forfaiting, and factoring.
