Pharmacist Specialist Gastroenterology

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Pharmacist Gastroenterology to join our team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.
Expert Practitioner- As a Consultant Pharmacist, you will be responsible for improving the use of medicines in the Trust, providing expert advice on therapeutic and cost-effectiveness measures, and guiding doctors in the composition of appropriate drug treatments for individual patients.
- You will make decisions where the evidence base is minimal, demonstrating an advanced level of reasoning and judgement.
- Effective communication is key, and you will need to communicate clearly the rationale for your advice and conduct open discussions when challenged.
- You will act as a highly specialist pharmacy practitioner for patients requiring medicines for gastrointestinal conditions, using a patient-centred approach to developing and evaluating pharmaceutical care.
- You will demonstrate professional accountability while reviewing prescriptions and challenging treatment choices.
- You will communicate highly complex drug and therapeutic information to senior clinicians, senior managers, and other professionals to influence treatment options and ensure compliance with medicines legislation.
- As an Independent Prescriber, you will provide dose adjustment, advice, and prescriptions for medicines for gastrointestinal conditions.
- You will liaise with MDT colleagues where their expertise or support is required to achieve the best therapy for patients.
- You will maintain appropriate databases, including recording relevant biochemistry results in patients' notes.
