About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gastroenterology Consultant to join our dynamic team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. As a key member of our Gastroenterology department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading a team of healthcare professionals, and contributing to the development of our services.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing endoscopy services, including ERCP and EUS
- Leading local and regional Upper GI and Hepatobiliary cancer MDT teams
- Conducting outpatient clinics for HPB, UGI 2-week wait, and General Gastroenterology
- Providing inpatient care to the dedicated specialty bed base on a 1:8 rota
- Contributing to the GI bleed out-of-hours on-call rota on a 1:8 basis
- Leading sub-specialty areas and supervising junior doctors and nursing staff
- Urgent and Emergency Care duties, including out-of-hours on-call

Person Specification
- GMC Registration with a full licence to practise
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Gastroenterology and General Medicine or within 6 months of obtaining CCT (or CESR/equivalent)
- Computer literacy and specific educational interests
- Intelligent and analytical approach to problem-solving, good time management, and organisational skills
