Urological Surgeon Specialist

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Urological Surgeon to join their team. The successful candidate will provide sub-specialist outpatient, diagnostic, and inpatient services for adult patients with prostate cancer. The post holder will require knowledge and skills in the surgical management of prostate cancer, including robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy and/or focal therapy.

The Imperial Prostate service runs the RAPID pathway for the diagnosis of clinically significant prostate cancer, which was pioneered by Professor Hashim Ahmed. The RAPID pathway incorporates the latest advances in the diagnosis of prostate cancer into a single pathway. This includes the use of multi-parametric MRI, image fusion devices to fuse the mp-MRI information onto the ultrasound image to improve the accuracy of biopsy, and the use of the transperineal approach for prostate biopsy.

The post holder will be expected to:

  • Provide high-quality care to patients with prostate cancer and benign prostate disease.
  • Contribute to the specialist MDT for prostate cancer and actively manage patient pathways.
  • Participate in the Consultant Urology on-call rota, with a Consultant of the Week model.
  • Take part in research, teaching, and training, as well as performance management and medical staff management.
