Urological Surgeon Position in East London

Barts Health NHS Trust invites applications for a Locum Consultant Urological Surgeon to support the workload of the Urology department at our Newham and Whipps Cross sites. We are seeking a consultant with expertise in urological surgery to contribute to the overall service.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising operating lists, clinics, diagnostics, on-call duties, ward rounds, and patient care. The postholder will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including nursing teams, to ensure high standards of care.
The unit is actively involved in research, education, and audit, and the appointee is expected to participate in these activities. The post requires full registration with the General Medical Council and a license to practice.
Main Responsibilities
In-patient activity is based on the Surgical Unit, with access to Paediatric day and in-patient beds as necessary. Day Care activity is centered on main theatres with patients housed on Forest Ward pre- and post-operatively.
Clinical Governance
The appointee will contribute to clinical audit, risk activities, incident reporting, responding to complaints within the expected timescale, and participating in user involvement in planning and monitoring access to and standards of the service.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
The postholder is clinically responsible to the Clinical Director of the specialty and managerially accountable to the Chief Operating Officer. The post is covered by National Health Service terms and conditions for Hospital Medical and Dental staff. The appointment is pensionable unless the appointee chooses to opt out of the National Health Service Pension Scheme.
The successful candidate will receive London Weighting Allowance and applicable consultant intensity payments. They will also be required to complete a health statement and may undergo a medical examination as a condition of employment.
