About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team at RAF Lakenheath. As a key member of our 48th Logistics Readiness Squadron, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, overhauling, repairing, modifying, and maintaining a variety of heavy mobile and automotive vehicles and equipment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in heavy mobile equipment and automotive vehicles
  • Maintain equipment including aircraft platform loaders, bulldozers, excavators, and mobile cranes
  • Conduct functional and performance tests on completed work
  • Adhere to safety practices and procedures
  • Use various hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and test equipment
  • Interpret and apply manufacturers' repair manuals, technical specifications, and schematics
  • Communicate effectively and maintain detailed records
About You

We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented professional with a knack for mechanical systems and a passion for excellence. You will bring knowledge of heavy mobile equipment and automotive vehicles, and you can interpret repair manuals and safety guides. You should have effective communication skills with the capability to train others. Relevant UK Certification, such as a Level 3 National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) or Level 3 National Diploma, or equivalent, is required, along with a valid Category B driver's license. You must be willing to undergo a pre-employment physical.
