About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Head Grounds Person to join our team at CBS Arena. As a key member of our grounds maintenance team, you will assist the Head Grounds Person in the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of our professional playing pitch.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Grounds Person in planning, implementing, and evaluating the maintenance and upkeep of the pitch, including daily tasks and activities.
  • Uphold high standards of ground maintenance, ensuring the pitch is consistently available for use by the club and stadium.
  • Manage and check facilities, plant, buildings, and equipment to ensure safe working practices and compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Manage the maintenance, servicing, and storage of equipment, including turf care equipment.
  • Assist in the renovation of hybrid and natural pitches, using equipment such as tractors, trailers, sand spreaders, and seeders.
  • Operate a range of machinery, including ride-on and pedestrian mowers, turf cutters, edgers, and scarification equipment.
  • Analyze trend data and gather information to develop insights on pitch usage.
Requirements
  • Qualified to NVQ level 3 or above in green keeping and groundsmanship or equivalent.
  • Spraying certificates PA1, 2, and 6 (desirable).
  • Experience in all aspects of grounds maintenance, including hybrid, artificial surfaces, and horticulture.
  • Experience in the use of turf care equipment.
  • Competent IT skills.
  • Experience in managing pitch lighting systems and irrigation systems.
  • Ability to manage teams of operatives, plan workloads, allocate duties, and monitor performance.
  • Good mechanical knowledge of equipment and ability to assist with routine maintenance.
  • Ability to use a wide range of turf care equipment.
