Job Title: Health and Safety Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Manager to develop and maintain the health and safety and environmental management system. This role is crucial in supporting line management to ensure safe systems of work are in place, complied with, and to ensure full legal compliance in safety, health, and environmental matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a health, safety, and environmental management system.
  • Provide proactive advice on health, safety, and environmental requirements to all levels of line management.
  • Ensure all accidents, incidents, unsafe acts, and conditions are reported, recorded, and fully investigated to determine root cause, including reporting to HSE under RIDDOR when applicable.
  • Support line management to comply with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Review and update safe working procedures, ensuring all personnel adhere to these.
  • Maintain risk assessments for all known hazards.
  • Ensure all employees are suitably trained to carry out their work safely.
  • Keep the management team informed on changes to legislation under health, safety, and environment.
  • Provide performance reports, set targets and objectives for improvements and risk reduction.
  • Communicate health, safety, and environmental issues effectively to all staff.
  • Provide weekly and monthly SHE reports to the Manager Director.

Requirements:

  • Relevant Industry Health & Safety qualifications and accreditations (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH, relevant subject university degrees).
  • Proven track record in managing site health & safety issues at a senior level.
  • Strong action and technical skills with a thorough understanding of production processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities using rigorous logic and methods.
  • High integrity and trustworthiness, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and admit mistakes.
  • Competent in managing and measuring work, setting clear objectives and measures.
  • Skilled in priority setting and time management.
  • Ability to stand alone and be counted, especially during challenging times.
  • Strong customer focus and communication skills, dedicated to meeting expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
