Jackson Hogg Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Finance Assistant to join their team in Sunderland. As a key member of the finance department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of financial processes.


Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable:

  • Review and resolve invoice queries in a timely manner, liaising with suppliers and the shared service centre.
  • Assist in the reconciliation of ledger accounts to vendors' statements, meeting company deadlines.
  • Liaise with internal departments to clear outstanding issues before the next month end.
  • Review receipted reports and ensure other departments maintain the system timely.
  • Maintain the purchase order book on a daily basis and produce reports.
  • Issue monthly supplier debit notes for Returns and Quality issues.

Month End Preparation:

  • Assist in the preparation of Intercompany account reconciliation, meeting month end reporting deadlines.
  • Maintain the Month End journal register and process journals.
  • Produce PO Accrual and prepare journal entries.
  • Responsible for preparation of prepayments, accruals, and ad hoc journals ready for review.
  • Complete Balance Sheet reconciliations in accordance with SOX requirements.
  • Review aged ACP, ACR, Debit notes, GRNI, and Purchase orders, clearing where possible.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis as requested by the Management Accountant and Financial Controller.

Other Duties:

  • Process ACR invoices in a timely manner and reconcile entries to the general ledger.
  • Maintain manual PO trackers and raise ACR Invoices for trial/one-off deliveries each week.
  • Ensure Delivery Summaries are kept up to date.
  • Maintain and reconcile ESS accruals system.
  • Report production scrap on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain trackers, e.g., Utilities, freight, waste, etc.
  • Assist with SOX testing.
  • Maintain selling price lists and update with any changes.
  • Review, improve, and document processes within the area of responsibility.

Requirements:

  • Awareness of general accounting principles.
  • Experience in an accounts department.
  • Computer literate in all MS applications, with emphasis on Excel spreadsheet.
  • Finance-related degree and/or working towards a recognized accounting qualification.
  • GCSE grade A-C in Maths and English or equivalent qualification.
