Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Specialist to join our team at Teaching Personnel. The successful candidate will work with vulnerable young people aged 11-16 years, helping to raise their emotional wellbeing and aspirations to learn.

About the Role

This is a full-time position working from 8:30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday during term time. As a Learning Support Specialist, you will provide support and supervision for pupils, encouraging their engagement in the learning process and working towards agreed aims and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Support vulnerable young people aged 11-16 years, helping to raise their emotional wellbeing and aspirations to learn.
  • Work with pupils 1-2-1 off the school site on intervention days.
  • Develop an understanding of safeguarding and always make this a priority.
  • Implement strategies to support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, developing an understanding of their Special Educational Needs.
  • Work as part of a team to manage behaviour positively and in line with each pupil's Behaviour Support Plan.
  • Provide specific support, dependent upon their individual needs, ensuring their safety whilst supporting access to learning activities.
  • Degree and/or equivalent level 3 qualification in teaching or education.
  • Able to drive and have access to a car.
  • Familiarity with the SEN Code of Practice and ability to implement its principles.
