Coatings Specialist

We are currently looking for an experienced Coatings Specialist to join our client based in Milton Keynes.
About the RoleA Coatings Specialist is responsible for applying paint and other finishes to vehicles, vehicle components, machinery, equipment, and various surfaces using spray guns. This role involves ensuring a high-quality finish, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety protocols.
Main Responsibilities- Surface Preparation:
- Clean and prepare surfaces prior to painting by cleaning, sanding, and masking as necessary.
- Ensure surfaces are properly primed and free of defects before application.
- Painting and Finishing:
- Mix paints to achieve desired colours and consistencies.
- Apply paint, varnish, or other finishes using spray guns or other applicators.
- Achieve uniform coverage and thickness according to specifications.
- Inspection and Quality Control:
- Inspect finished surfaces for quality and make necessary touch-ups or corrections.
- Ensure all painted surfaces meet company standards and customer specifications.
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Set up, calibrate, and maintain spray equipment and tools.
- Clean spray guns, hoses, and other equipment after use to ensure longevity and performance.
- Previous experience in Transport body repair or paint preparation is essential.
- NVQ level 2 or equivalent (desirable) but not essential.
- Experience in the use of water-based paint is essential.
- Proficiency in using spray guns and other painting tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to mix and match colours accurately.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and handling of hazardous materials.
- There may be a requirement to work alternating shifts – earlies and lates.
- Must be able to pass a medical.
Estimated salary: £25,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
