About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Biomedical Scientist to join our team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. As a key member of our Cellular Pathology Department, you will play a vital role in delivering a high-quality, patient-focused service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine pathological samples using various technologies and report or present results as appropriate.
  • Work in different sections of the department to gain knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to the provision of an accurate and timely service for patients.
  • Communicate information related to patient management and care to colleagues, healthcare staff, and other organizations.
About Us

Our department provides a range of services, including Histopathology, Andrology, Immunohistochemistry, Muscle, Molecular, Non-Gynae Cytology, and mortuary services. We are a well-equipped and innovative department, being the first laboratory in the UK to digitally scan 100% of surgical slides and introducing the UK's first automated tissue sectioners.

Requirements
  • HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • IBMS approved degree.
  • Evidence of participation in CPD.
Working Conditions

The post holder will work in a laboratory environment, exposed to potentially infectious pathological samples on a daily basis. Occasional exposure to other risks, such as chemical hazards, may occur. The role requires the ability to work under controlled conditions, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, and to participate in stock control, including the movement of goods from the point of delivery to the point of storage.
