Specialist Biomedical Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality laboratory services to patients and healthcare professionals.
Main Responsibilities- Perform a wide range of complex technical procedures, including the safe and effective use of highly complex laboratory equipment.
- Use of LIMS to enter, manage, retrieve, interpret, validate, and authorise complex patient information and results.
- Contribute to the provision of an accurate and timely service for patients, applying professional judgements and specialist skills to technically complex and sometimes difficult situations.
- Communicate complex, clinical technical information to users of the service in a manner that is in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Participate in the day-to-day running of the laboratory or a particular section of the laboratory, under supervision/delegation of the advanced biomedical scientist.
- Post-registration experience within Bacteriology, with the ability to work unsupervised and provide specific examples of staff training/mentoring.
- Experience of using LIMS systems, with specific examples of staff training/mentoring.
- Post-registration experience within Mycology and Environmental & Waters Laboratories, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Line management and leadership skills, with the ability to provide leadership and contribute to general departmental management.
- Degree (or equivalent) suitable for HCPC Registration, with the ability to provide registration number and date of registration.
- HCPC Registration, with the ability to provide registration number and date of registration.
- IBMS Specialist Portfolio (registered post 2006), with the ability to provide date obtained.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide examples in laboratory.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team, with the ability to provide specific examples.
