Specialist Critical Care and Surgical Dietitian

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dietitian to lead our cardiothoracic, cardiology, and transplantation patient care pathway at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. As a key member of our dietetic team, you will work closely with clinical leads, multi-professional teams, and therapy teams to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the assessment and treatment of complex inpatients, including patients requiring nutritional optimisation for heart and lung transplant or surgery, post-lung transplant in cystic fibrosis, and management of chylothorax.
- Develop and implement effective nutritional care plans, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Provide clinical supervision, mentoring, and training to junior dietitians and students, promoting professional development and excellence in practice.
- Contribute to the development of dietetic services, including service improvement initiatives, quality assurance, and audit.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals across multidisciplinary teams and other agencies to influence and discuss patient care.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Significant post-graduate experience in a relevant specialist area, with advanced theoretical knowledge and highly developed skills.
- Experience of training dietetic students, with excellent presentation and clinical supervisory skills.
- High level of knowledge gained through attendance at postgraduate specialist courses, including Masters-level training.
- Excellent time management, interpersonal, and team working skills, with the ability to work in a systematic way and manage a clinical caseload.
