Consultant Gastroenterologist with Expertise in Clinical Nutrition

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic clinical nutrition service as a Consultant Gastroenterologist with a focus on clinical nutrition. You will be working across all three sites within University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and community sites, providing high-quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement.
Main Responsibilities
- Responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department;
- Participation in service development and business planning in collaboration with other Consultants in the department, the Clinical Management Group, and local GPs and commissioners within the local Integrated Care Board;
- Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff, including the observance of local employment and human resource policies and procedures;
- Responsibilities for carrying out teaching, examination, and accreditation duties as required, and contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education activity, locally and regionally;
- Participation in medical audit, the Trust's Clinical Governance processes, and in Continuing Professional Development (CPD);
- Managerial responsibilities, including budgetary responsibilities where appropriate, and compliance with standing orders and standing financial instructions of the Trust;
- In line with GMC Good Medical Practice, it is the responsibility of the post-holder to ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard, and in accordance with current quality initiatives within the area of work.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
- MB BS or Equivalent;
- Full GMC registration;
Experience/Clinical Skills
- JAG accredited for upper and lower GI diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy;
- Excellent clinical skills and experience requisite to meeting all aspects of the Job Plan.
Audit/Quality Improvement
- Effective participation in and a commitment to clinical audit.
Research
- Understanding and interest in research;
Teaching
- Experience of and a commitment to training/teaching undergraduate and postgraduates.
