Job Title: Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out electrical and mechanical breakdown repair coverage, as well as planned preventive maintenance, to ensure the smooth operation of our manufacturing plant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to machine breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner to minimize downtime and improve long-term machine reliability.
  • Execute the Lead/Senior Maintenance Engineer's plan to work preventatively, in addition to reactively, to ensure the optimal performance of our equipment.
  • Use appropriate root cause analysis tools and 5S principles to identify and resolve issues.
  • Carry out routine Planned Preventative Maintenance to prevent equipment failure and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Accurately record all maintenance tasks performed on an electronic reporting system to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Train Operators and Craft in performing First Line and Planned Maintenance Activities as and when required to ensure a high level of skill and knowledge within the team.
  • Communicate and liaise with other departments and fellow maintenance engineers to ensure continuity of information between shifts and ensure a smooth operation of the plant.
  • Liaise with machine tool suppliers/representatives for the purchase of machine tool spares and resolution of problems requiring 3rd party support.
  • Be responsible for training apprentices to ensure the development of the next generation of maintenance engineers.
  • Attend monthly meetings to ensure understanding of the organization's importance of meeting customer, as well as statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively ensure quality procedures and guidelines are followed to ensure quality objectives are met and customer satisfaction is maintained.
  • Escalate any customer quality concern immediately upon identification to ensure prompt resolution and minimize the risk of reputational damage.
Requirements:
  • Works well alone and as part of a team to achieve common goals and objectives.
  • To have a proven record of being pro-active, self-motivated, and flexible when working in a pressurized environment.
  • Ability to read Pneumatic, Electrical & Hydraulic Schematics to ensure a deep understanding of equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Multi-skilled individual with practical experience in PLC fault finding and repair, as well as a complete understanding and experience of mechanical and electrical disciplines.
  • Ideally, to have served a recognized engineering apprenticeship to ensure a strong foundation in engineering principles and practices.
  • Conversant in standard MS office applications to ensure effective communication and documentation.
