About the Job

We are currently seeking a skilled Strategic Property Risk Underwriter to join our team at Aviva.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite profitable business within an aligned portfolio, working closely with brokers and operating within agreed guidelines and authority levels.
  • Pursue opportunities to grow your book of work through new business and renewals, making day-to-day underwriting decisions regarding the acceptance and rating of risks within detailed guidelines and agreed authority limits.
  • Support and mentor junior colleagues in their development to ensure they achieve their own goals.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Extensive underwriting knowledge within a commercial property insurance team, including specific real estate experience.
  • Face-to-face broker experience, in an underwriting capacity, including a proven ability to negotiate case terms with brokers at a senior level and build strong business relationships.
  • Experience coaching, training, and mentoring others in technical subjects.
  • Experience conducting internal and external underwriting audits, showcasing excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze complex information and draw out relevant facts, presenting them to others in various formats.
Compensation and Benefits

Our competitive compensation package includes:

  • A salary of approximately £55,000 per annum, depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications.
  • Bonus opportunity - 10% of annual salary (actual amount depends on performance and Aviva's targets).
