We are seeking a recent Psychology graduate to join our team as a Learning Support Assistant. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with students who have a range of learning and behavioural needs.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work with students who have SEMH needs, Autism, and complex needs that require support with personal care. You will be working in a specialist school environment, closely matched to your skills, interests, and career aspirations.

The Opportunity:

This role is perfect for an aspiring youth justice worker, prison liaison officer, or behaviour mentor. You will have the chance to gain quality, first-hand experience in a specialist school environment, working with students who require additional support.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Providing assistance and supervision for students' behaviour during the school day
  2. Assisting students to understand and participate in class
  3. Assisting with note taking while supporting literacy and numeracy
  4. Working with a class, a small group, or individual learners
  5. Encouraging the development of social skills and supporting students' individual needs
  6. Helping to build confidence and motivation
  7. Participating in team meetings and training programmes as an active member of a team
  8. Maintaining progress records
  9. Supporting regulations pertaining to safeguarding
Requirements:
  1. An Undergraduate Degree in Psychology is desirable
  2. Experience working with vulnerable children is also highly desirable
  3. Good general education levels in English and Maths - A Levels are preferable
  4. A co-operative working style and practical approach to solving problems
  5. Good interpersonal and communication skills and a caring attitude
  6. Flexibility in terms of working patterns
