About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic consultant to join our clinical haematology service at Leighton Hospital. As part of a collaborative venture between The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Mid-Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we are offering the opportunity to develop clinical haematology services across the southern sector of the Greater Manchester and Cheshire Cancer Network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultant-level support to the development of the clinical haematology service and implement best practice in Haematology.
  • Responsible for providing specialist input into the care of inpatients at Leighton Hospital and managing outpatients attending the Macmillan Cancer Care Unit for treatment.
  • Liaise with local General Practitioners for haematological advice and join the existing consultant's rota to manage this.
  • Be a core member of the leukaemia/myeloma and lymphoma multi-disciplinary teams and develop a special interest to suit the interests of the successful applicant and the unmet needs of the MCHFT Clinical Haematology service.
About Us

The Christie haematology service acts as a tertiary referral centre for the management of patients with haematological malignancies and bone marrow failure. Our service has grown extensively over the past few years with the development of new treatments and CAR T. We deliver services at 2 other trusts with plans to expand services closer to home further.

Person Specification
  • FRCP / MRCP or equivalent AND FRCPath or equivalent.
  • Clinical experience and knowledge in General Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Coagulation, and Malignant Haematology.
  • Evidence of continuing personal and professional development and keeps up to date with medical advances.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of the core legal, ethical, and political issues which govern medical practice.
