About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Workshop Controller to oversee the daily operations of our busy workshop. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring all vehicle repairs and maintenance are completed efficiently, on time, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Workflow Coordination: Manage the daily operations of the workshop, ensuring a smooth workflow and timely completion of all repairs and services.
  • Job Allocation: Assign tasks to technicians based on their skills and experience to maximize efficiency and resource utilization.
  • Quality Control: Conduct quality checks to ensure all repairs meet company, manufacturer, and industry standards.
  • Communication: Act as the liaison between service advisors and technicians, providing customers with accurate updates on the status of their vehicles.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and promote safe working practices within the workshop.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee stock levels and assist the parts team in ordering necessary parts and supplies to maintain seamless operations.
  • Staff Training and Development: Mentor new staff, identify training needs, and foster a positive, productive work environment.

About You

You should have a solid understanding of the automotive repair industry, ideally with hands-on experience as an MET, Panel, or Paint Technician in an accident repair setting, coupled with supervisory experience.

Additionally, you will bring:

  • A strong technical background with comprehensive knowledge of vehicle systems and repairs.
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership skills.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A thorough understanding of health and safety regulations and risk assessments.
  • Proficiency in using workshop management software and other relevant computer applications.
  • A valid full UK driving licence.
