Mobility Equipment Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Mobility Equipment Specialist to join our Kent Wheelchair Service team. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will work closely with service users of all ages, assessing their mobility needs and prescribing manual and powered wheelchairs with associated posture management and pressure management accessories.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of adults and children with complex needs to determine their mobility requirements.
- Prescribe manual and powered wheelchairs, including high-performance self-propelling manual wheelchairs, and minor modifications to wheelchairs, seating, and accessories.
- Produce engineering drawings for adaptations and instructions for their use, ensuring compliance with applicable medical devices regulations.
- Supervise junior staff and provide clinical and technical guidance to colleagues in the service.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and operational teams to deliver high-quality service performance, prioritizing personalized approaches and measured outcomes.
- Liaise with service user groups and stakeholders to facilitate joint working and identify opportunities for improving service user outcomes.
Requirements:
- A strong background in clinical engineering or a related field, with experience working with patients with long-term or deteriorating medical conditions.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Registration as a Clinical Technologist or HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist.
- A full current UK driving license for a manual transmission vehicle and willingness to drive vans as necessary.
