Role Overview
The Kent Wheelchair Service team at Equals One Ltd has an exciting opportunity for a Mobility Equipment Specialist to join their ranks. This rewarding role involves working with adults and children who require mobility equipment to achieve and maintain their lifestyle choices.

About the Role
This position provides a unique opportunity to work with service users of all ages, utilising clinical and technical skills to assess mobility needs and prescribe manual and powered wheelchairs. High performance, highly adjustable self-propelling manual wheelchairs are just one aspect of this role, which also involves production of engineering drawings, assembly and programming of complex powered wheelchair controls, and compliance with applicable medical devices regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use analytical, engineering and practical skills to solve problems for service users in relation to their mobility equipment.
  • Work with clinical and operational colleagues to deliver contractual service performance of a high quality that demonstrates a personalised approach with measured outcomes.
  • Liaise with service user groups and other stakeholders, including local voluntary and statutory services, to facilitate joint working where appropriate and identify opportunities for improving service user outcomes.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a track record of using your analytical, engineering and practical skills to solve problems for service users in relation to their mobility equipment. Experience of working with patients with long term or deteriorating medical conditions would be advantageous. You will also need to be confident in the use of digital systems and software for record-keeping and for analysis of service performance. A full current UK driving licence for a manual transmission vehicle is required, as well as being willing to drive vehicles (vans) as necessary. Due to the nature of the role, you will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
