School-Based SEND Support Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced SEND Support Assistant to join our team at a reputable primary school in Barnet. As a SEND Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting a child in Year 6 who requires individualized attention due to their complex needs.

The school values its staff's well-being and offers regular training sessions to ensure they are consistently upskilled. The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) prioritizes children's and staff's welfare, creating a positive and supportive learning environment.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and implementing strategies to support a pupil with complex needs who is non-verbal
  • Working collaboratively with the teacher to plan and deliver effective lessons
  • Providing one-to-one support to the pupil, adapting to their unique needs
  • Delivering catch-up sessions to support the pupil's progress
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working within a school environment
  • Previous experience supporting individuals with SEND
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • Ability to work under the guidance of the teacher
