Job Summary
A dynamic opportunity has arisen for a one-year maternity cover secondment as Assistant Service Manager in Breast, ENT & OMFS at Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The main base will be at Ashford Hospital with one day every two weeks spent at St Peters Hospital.
The successful candidate will oversee the smooth running of the patient pathway, including effective management of performance targets for the 18 weeks RTT, cancer targets, and 28-day rebooking.
The line management of the Band 5 Clinical Office Team Leaders and Central Booking Officers will also be a key responsibility.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To work alongside the Service Manager with daily management of PTLs to ensure delivery of RTT and cancer and theatre re-booking targets.
- To arrange additional capacity for services as required, ensuring performance targets are met.
- To support the daily operational and business management of the department.
- To support the Service Manager to ensure that the medical rotas are completed six weeks in advance and distributed accordingly.
- To deputise for the Service Manager as appropriate, including contribution to surgical bed management.

- Educated to degree level or evidence of equivalent level of ability/NHS experience.
- Evidence of management/leadership courses.

- Evidence of managing a specific piece of work from initiation to conclusion.
- Understanding of the management of NHS waiting lists.
- Managing staff, and using HR policies.
- Managing conflicting demands and workload pressures - effective prioritisation.
