About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Service Manager to join our team at Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will play a key role in the smooth running of our patient pathways, including effective management of performance targets for the 18 weeks RTT, cancer targets, and 28-day rebooking.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination of Patient Tracking List (PTL) meetings, ensuring effective management of performance targets.
  • Manage clinic capacity, proactively preventing two-week rule and 18-week breaches, and requesting additional clinics as necessary.
  • Attend cancer PTL meetings, taking responsibility for completing actions to ensure patients are fast-tracked through their pathway to prevent non-compliance with cancer targets.
  • Undertake weekly breach analysis, escalating trends to the Service Manager.
  • Ensure that the Trust's Patient Access Policy is adhered to in everyday working practice.
  • Support the infrastructure which measures performance within the service/division, including RTT reports, e-referrals, and outpatient new to follow-up ratios.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or evidence of equivalent level of ability/NHS experience.
  • Evidence of management/leadership courses.
  • Evidence of managing a specific piece of work from initiation to conclusion.
  • Understanding of the management of NHS waiting lists.
  • Managing staff, and using HR policies.
  • Managing conflicting demands and workload pressures - effective prioritisation.

Desirable

  • Health Service Management.
  • Working knowledge of 18-week pathways and cancer pathways.
  • Understanding of rota planning and rota implementation.

Skills

  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Able to provide a customer-focused service.
