Job Overview

Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Biomedical Scientist to join our team in the Blood Transfusion section. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a high-quality laboratory service to the Trust and its users.

Main Duties of the Job

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the technical work and staff of the Blood Transfusion section, ensuring the timely delivery of a high-quality service. They will also be involved in setting policies and procedures surrounding blood transfusion and be an active member of the Hospital Transfusion Committee.

Person Specification
  • Registered as a biomedical scientist with Health Professions Council (HCPC)
  • IBMS specialist diploma in relevant subject
  • MSc or HSD in relevant subject
  • Completed supervisory, management or leadership course
  • Significant post-registration experience in a hospital blood transfusion laboratory
  • Able to demonstrate specialist knowledge in blood transfusion
  • Able to troubleshoot problems in blood transfusion
  • Experience and/or knowledge of paediatric haematology
  • Have led a team that has achieved the requirements of BSQR in a hospital transfusion laboratory
