The current rotations include patient services, inpatients & outpatients, medicines management, stores, distribution and Omnicell. The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the development of the rotations and work closely with the team to provide a high-quality pharmaceutical service for inpatients.

Main Duties of the Job

Participate in a recognised medicines management course, providing knowledge and understanding of clinical pharmacy. Provide a high-quality pharmaceutical service for inpatients and carry out ward-based activities in a timely manner. Hand over complex information clearly to the appropriate people using verbal or written skills. Support the management of homecare medicines management services and ensure that requests for new medicines are processed according to medicines management policies.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ level 3 and/or BTEC or equivalent in pharmaceutical science
  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Accredited checking pharmacy technician

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Hospital pharmacy experience
  • Good interpersonal skills, confident and assertive when working with other professionals
  • Portfolio demonstrating competency of previous and current pharmacy practice skills, knowledge and evidence of CPD
  • Willing to take responsibility
  • IT literacy including word processing, e-mail and use of the internet

Desirable

  • Staff management
  • Qualified on the Pharmacy Medicines Management Optimisation Programme
