About the Role

Kennedys is seeking a highly skilled Marine Insurance Associate to join our esteemed Marine team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for handling and assisting in the handling of marine insurance claims, primarily focusing on hull, war, marine liability, cargo, mortgagee's interest insurance, marine cyber, and yachts, as well as wet and dry shipping.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the handling of marine insurance claims, including policy drafting and wet and dry shipping disputes.
  • Work closely with the Marine team to provide assistance to domestic and international clients on a comprehensive range of marine insurance, wet and dry shipping, and trade issues.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, including insurers, charterers, freight forwarders, shipowners, ports and terminal operators, and commodity marine service tenders.
  • Conduct research and analysis to stay up-to-date on industry developments and trends.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • 2-4 years' experience as a UK Qualified Solicitor or CILEX qualified with relevant experience.
  • Experience of marine insurance gained at a recognized shipping law firm.
  • Familiarity with arbitration and court procedures.
  • Previous client contact and attendance at business development events.
