Marine Insurance Associate Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Insurance Associate to join our leading Marine team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and supporting marine insurance claims, including those related to hull, war, marine liability, cargo, mortgagee's interest insurance, marine cyber, yachts, and wet and dry shipping matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and assist in handling a variety of marine insurance claims.
  • Draft policies and provide legal advice on marine-related issues.
  • Handle both wet and dry shipping disputes.
  • Contribute to arbitration and litigation processes.
  • Overseas travel may be required.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • UK Qualified Solicitor or CILEX qualified (2-4 years PQE is a guideline but not restrictive).
  • Experience in marine insurance law gained from a recognized shipping law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of arbitration and court procedures, especially under LMAA terms.
  • Client-facing experience and participation in business development activities.
  • Language skills are a plus but not essential.
About the Team:

Our Marine team supports both domestic and international clients on a broad spectrum of marine insurance and shipping matters. Our clients include insurers, shipowners, freight forwarders, ports, charterers, and terminal operators. We handle a wide variety of disputes across marine insurance and shipping, from coverage issues to subrogation, as well as drafting insurance policies and commercial contracts.
