About the Role

MK College Group is seeking a highly motivated and creative Mentoring Tutor to join our prison-based Education Team at HMP Huntercombe. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering the Certificate in Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) qualification to prisoners aiming to work in roles that require providing information, advice, or guidance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver engaging and inspiring sessions to small groups of prison-based learners, fostering a positive and calm learning environment.
  • Encourage learners to engage with education, build their confidence, and develop soft skills applicable to employment and further education.
  • Conduct outreach work outside the main classroom setting, supporting learners in various departments within the prison.

  • Signposting and Referral in Information, Advice, or Guidance
  • Managing Information
  • Specialist Advice Work in Practice - Employment
  • Specialist Advice Work in Practice - Refugee, Immigrant, or Asylum Seeker
Requirements
  • L3 qualification in Information, Advice and Guidance or level 3 Coaching & Mentoring
  • Strong communication skills to inspire and motivate learners
  • Ability to create adaptable, innovative, and imaginative lessons
  • Experience working with individuals who have had negative experiences with education
Working Hours
  • Mondays to Thursdays: 07:50-16:50
  • Fridays: 07:50-13:20
