About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Pupil Support Assistant Level 2 at Fife Council. This exciting opportunity will see you working closely with children and young people who require additional support, helping them to achieve their full potential.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing individualised support to pupils/children in various settings, including classrooms and small groups. Your role will involve:

  • SUPPORTING PUPILS/CHILDREN IN VARIOUS SETTINGS: You will work under the direction of class teachers or senior staff to assist pupils/children who require additional support. This may involve supporting learning and personal development in identified areas, as well as contributing to planning and review processes.
  • ADMINISTERING MEDICATION AND PROVIDING PERSONAL CARE: You will be responsible for supervising pupil/child self-administration of medication, as well as providing high levels of personal care, including toileting and encouraging independence.
  • IMPLEMENTING SUPPORT PROGRAMMES: You will work with visiting specialists to implement support programmes, such as speech and language programmes, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy.
  • ASSISTING WITH MOBILITY: You will support pupils/children with mobility issues on an emergency/short-term basis, enabling them to access facilities and participate in activities.

Essential Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • GOOD LEVELS OF INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: You will need to work effectively as a member of a team to ensure positive outcomes for all children and young people.
  • EXPERIENCE OF SUPPORTING YOUNG PEOPLE WITH ADDITIONAL NEEDS: You will have experience of working with children and young people who require additional support, either in a school setting or through volunteering/community work.
  • PVG SCHEME MEMBERSHIP: You will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland before taking up employment.
  • SSSC REGISTRATION: For Early Learning Centres/Primary and Special schools only, you must register with the Scottish Social Services Council within six months of taking up employment and complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL) over the registration period.
  • RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS: You must hold relevant qualifications, such as two National 4's, two Standard Grades General, or two O Grades, or equivalent (SCQF Level 4 or above).
  • Good IT Skills

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is £22,187 - £25,849 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
