Position Overview

The Role

This position is centered on performing a comprehensive gap analysis between an advanced nuclear initiative and another project in its preliminary design phase. Your objective is to ensure that the civil engineering requirements of both projects align with relevant codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to define and refine the Book of Technical Specifications (BTS)
  • Identifying and addressing gaps in the BTS based on project maturity and associated risks, in line with project timelines
  • Updating applicable Codes and Standards for the project following the completion of the gap analysis
  • Overseeing BTS revisions, gathering stakeholder feedback, and finalizing documentation
  • Facilitating progress meetings, organizing action items, and leading workshops
Qualifications

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Experience in nuclear civil engineering or complex structural projects
  • Expertise in designing concrete structures and steel-lined containment systems
  • Familiarity with Eurocodes, American codes, or ETC-C
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including CDM 2015
  • Understanding of seismic loading impacts on structures
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently

Preferred Skills:

  • Working towards or holding chartership with ICE or IStructE
  • Experience with large-scale, complex projects
  • Capability to perform engineering calculations based on first principles
  • Strong understanding of reinforcement detailing for structural components
  • Knowledge of material interfaces in design
