Artist Liaison

Upsilon Gallery is seeking an experienced Artist Liaison to join our team in London. As a key member of our gallery, you will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with artists, estates, and museums. Your primary goal will be to develop and implement strategic initiatives for our institutional relationships, ensuring a strong presence in the art world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and plan museum outreach with artist and estate managers for each gallery exhibition
  • Track museum contact changes and notify the sales team in a once-monthly newsletter
  • Work closely with the client development team to ensure institutional data is archived, updated, and accurate in the gallery's records
  • Work closely with the marketing team to properly promote third-party exhibitions through emails, social media, mailings, and events
  • Advocate for and develop public commission opportunities for gallery artists
  • Generate museum exhibition opportunities for artists and estates represented by Upsilon Gallery, focusing on the US and UK
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives for the gallery's institutional relationships
  • Facilitate and cultivate the gallery's conversations and initiatives with museums
  • Network with a younger, emerging, and international generation of museum professionals, curators, and cultural agents, building a network for long- and short-term cooperation
  • Maintain a solid review of art world news, in particular, institutional news

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of Artist Liaison or similar position experience
  • MA in art history/curatorial studies or comparable art subjects
  • Previous experience working with an art gallery, auction house, or museum strongly preferred
  • Broad and in-depth knowledge of art history and the most recent developments in the contemporary art industry and the current intellectual discourse
  • Strong commitment to artists and the artistic program of the gallery
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and work independently is a must
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and privacy in previous positions
  • Impeccable attention to detail and strong written and oral communication skills
  • Skill in working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
  • Outstanding collaboration, teamwork, and people skills
  • Flexibility to work some evenings when necessary, no task too small mentality
  • Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite, and database software, e.g., ArtLogic

Benefits:

  • This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week
  • Salary: £40,000
