About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to join our team as Senior Clinical Trials Manager in the Research Management & Innovation Department at King's College London.

The successful candidate will work closely with the KHP-CTO Director to provide senior leadership to the King's Health Partners organisations, comprising a streamlined administrative function to support the management of commercial clinical trials across the partner institutions and a Quality Operations and Compliance function to support non-commercial trials sponsored by the Partners.

The post holder will play a pivotal role in the senior leadership team of the CTO, leading on modernisation of systems and processes, operational management of the Commercial trials and Quality teams, and acting as an expert advisor for staff across Guys and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, Kings College Hospital Foundation Trust, South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and King's College London.

The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of working with both commercial and non-commercial clinical trials and have an excellent understanding of the NHS R&D landscape. They will also have significant leadership experience, including performance and operational management of complex teams within a large and highly research active context, working across multiple sites and organisations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of the NIHR National Contract Review initiative in combination with the KHP CTO distribution model
  • Ensuring efficient processes to obtain rapid approval of trials through the Health Research Authority, MHRA and the KHP organisations R&D departments
  • Operational management of the Commercial trials and Quality teams
  • Acting as an expert advisor for staff across the partner institutions

Requirements:

  • Postgraduate qualification at Masters level in a health related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Significant leadership experience, including performance and operational management of complex teams within a large and highly research active context, working across multiple sites and organisations
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of EU and UK Regulatory Frameworks for clinical trials
  • High level of work organisation, self-motivation, drive for performance and improvement, and flexibility in approach and attitude
  • Highly developed leadership, influencing, negotiating and relationship building skills
