Railway Customer Service Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Gateline Assistant at Reading West Station. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive experience for our passengers.
Key Responsibilities- Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer enquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist with the day-to-day operation of the automatic ticket gates, ensuring they are functioning correctly and efficiently.
- Inspect and issue tickets to customers, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Offer passenger assistance to customers requiring additional support, such as those with disabilities or mobility issues.
- Address customer needs during times of service disruption, providing clear and concise information and support.
- Ensure the professional appearance of the Ticket Barrier area, including clearing rubbish and maintaining customer walkways.
- Support the safety of the station through duties such as Winterisation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours and shifts.
- Previous experience of working in a frontline customer-facing role, with a strong understanding of customer service principles.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of railway operations and procedures, with a willingness to learn and develop skills.
