Railway Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Technician 1 at Reading Train Care Depot. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our Class 387 & 16X rolling stock.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out safety-critical and non-safety-critical tasks in accordance with controlled technical instructions on Diesel and Electric rolling stock.
- Planning and coordinating tasks with other team members to ensure efficient maintenance activities.
- Performing maintenance activities, fault finding, and rectification, as well as defect reporting.
- Providing technical support at mainline stations as required.
- Ensuring the creation and maintenance of safe working conditions.
- Working away from home location, dependent on personal contract and/or roster requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will need to be:
- Proactive and able to work as part of a team or independently as required.
- Able to plan your workload to meet tight deadlines.
- Available to work weekends, bank holidays, and live within a reasonable distance of Reading Train Care Depot.
- From a recognized engineering background.
As a minimum, you will need to have:
- An NVQ Level 3 in an Engineering subject.
- Engineering experience, with Railway knowledge of Diesel and Electric rolling stock being advantageous but not essential.
