About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Future Concepts team at Anson McCade. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the mechanical development of major projects and R&D initiatives, driving the design and optimization of sub-systems and components to advance the early-stage mechanical development of missile designs and prototypes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical development of major projects and R&D initiatives, driving the design and optimization of sub-systems and components.
  • Develop concept design solutions from limited information and adapt to evolving requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to influence and negotiate project requirements.
  • Generate innovative research ideas and secure funding to turn these concepts into reality.
  • Contribute to the development of Advanced Missile and Defence Systems, providing decisive national security capabilities to our Home Nations and strategic allies.

Requirements:

  • A British citizen or a dual UK national with British citizenship, with active or willingness to obtain DV (Developed Vetting) clearance.
  • Solid grasp of Mechanical Design, including a keen understanding of electronic packaging and thermal management.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a talent for collaborating, influencing, and negotiating with stakeholders.
  • Relevant experience with 3D CAD/CAE tools (training on preferred CAE tools will be provided).

What We Offer:

  • Competitive base salary: Up to £60,000 (DoE)
  • Annual Bonus: Circa £2,500
  • Overtime: Optional paid overtime - flat rate (1.25)
