About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Responsum Global Ltd. As a key member of our mechanical building services team, you will be responsible for leading the design of innovative and sustainable mechanical systems for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and design low-energy, sustainable mechanical systems that meet our clients' needs and exceed their expectations.
  • Lead on building physics analysis for projects, ensuring that our designs are optimized for energy efficiency and sustainability.
  • Undertake calculations and simulations to inform design decisions and ensure that our designs are safe and effective.
  • Produce high-quality design drawings and reports, and participate in the preparation of specifications and other documentation.
  • Collaborate with other specialists to integrate and coordinate their systems into our designs.
  • Monitor progress on site, take a leading role during commissioning and handover, and ensure that our designs are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Supervise and mentor graduate and assistant engineers, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Develop relationships with architects, clients, and other stakeholders to help grow our business and deliver exceptional results.

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced mechanical engineer who has a passion for sustainable design and a commitment to delivering exceptional results. The ideal candidate will have:

A CEng – Chartered member of (or working towards) a professional institution, with a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices.At least 4+ years of experience working in a mechanical building services role, with a proven track record of delivering successful projects.A BEng/MEng degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant subject, or an equivalent technical qualification.Knowledge and experience of working on sustainable and low-carbon projects, with a strong understanding of building physics and energy efficiency principles.A fervent interest in responding to the climate emergency and a commitment to delivering sustainable solutions.Competent user of design software such as Autocad and Revit, with experience of using other software such as IES, PHPP, and SAP.Ability to work well within a team, both internally and externally, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Motivated, practically-minded, independent, and enthusiastic, with a strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering exceptional results.
