About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Manager to join our Research and Innovation team at Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced financial professional to support the financial management and reporting of research grants and portfolios.

As a key member of the finance team, you will provide expert financial guidance to budget holders, maintain financial ledgers, and produce timely and accurate reporting requirements. Your exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail will enable you to identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To provide financial information and guidance to budget holders, ensuring compliance with NHS Financial Regime and Policies.
  • To lead on the provision of an expert financial management service to directorates within GOSH, including cost and income analysis, forecasting, and presentation of information.
  • To support unit managers and clinicians in their financial responsibilities, including development and reporting of Cost Improvement Scheme (CIS) plans and financial modelling of service developments.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of the Trust's medium to long-term financial strategy.
  • To manage junior financial management staff and provide professional support to ensure development of the financial management function and improvement of processes.
  • To support the Business Partner, Finance Manager, and senior finance staff in delivering corporate tasks and objectives.
  • To be responsible for external returns and reporting relating to allocated portfolios.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Significant financial management experience at a senior level, preferably in the NHS.
  • Presentation of highly complex financial and non-financial information.
  • Inspiring confidence & developing highly effective working relationships with finance, clinical, and non-finance colleagues.
  • Presentation of financial information and leading financial discussions at senior management and executive level meetings.
  • Use of financial ledgers & reporting tools.
  • NHS Financial Regime & Policies.
  • Staff management experience including recruitment, selection, objective setting, appraisals, and managing performance.
  • Strong report writing skills.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Advanced excel skills.
  • Financial analysis and forecasting.
  • Complex financial modelling skills.
  • Change management skills.

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
