We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Senior Children's Support Worker to join our team at a modern residential children's home in Bodmin. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting young people between the ages of 8-16 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.

The ideal candidate will be a committed and resilient individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people. They will be responsible for leading by example, mentoring and supporting newer staff members, and promoting the independence and well-being of the young people in their care.

The successful candidate will have experience as a Children's Support Worker or with Young People, and will hold a Level 3 NVQ in Children & Young People. They will also have experience within another healthcare or social care setting.

We offer a comprehensive training package, including scheduled ongoing face-to-face training and CPD planning. We also offer a competitive salary, company pension, and 28 days annual leave.

Responsibilities:

  • To lead by example and support the management team to run the shift
  • To take greater responsibility for mentoring and supporting newer staff members
  • To encourage the young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age
  • To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes
  • To be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed
  • To protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
  • To provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being
  • To maintain a safe environment for the young people
  • To ensure the safety of the students and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication
  • To supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically
  • To develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals that may be involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Children's Support Worker, or with Young People is ESSENTIAL
  • Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is ESSENTIAL
  • Level 3 NVQ in Children & Young People
