We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Children's Support Worker to join our team at a modern residential children's home in Bodmin. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting young people between the ages of 8-16 years old with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.

The ideal candidate will be able to work in a busy, ever-changing environment and provide a safe and caring environment for the young people. They will also be responsible for promoting the independence and well-being of the young people, as well as maintaining a safe environment.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in a supportive and challenging role. They will also be able to work closely with other professionals, such as psychologists and social workers, to ensure the best possible outcomes for the young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To encourage the young people to take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.
  • To maintain a homely, friendly culture and environment of the home.
  • To be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
  • To protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • To provide support for the children and young people in the home and to promote their independence and well-being.
  • To maintain a safe environment for young people.
  • To ensure the safety of the students and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
  • To support taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
  • To develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals that may be involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Children's Support Worker, or with Young People is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is desirable but not essential.
  • You must be a car driver as you will be required to transport young people from time to time.
  • You must be over the age of 21.
  • You must be able to commute to Bodmin.
